This is an awesome album from the CDB. This album was grossly underappreciated by country radio, but that's because it's more rock and roll than country. Personally, I'd rather listen to Road Dogs by the CDB than the Dixie Chicks or Lonestar any day. If you're fed up with love songs and you just want to rock, this album is for you. Southern rock is back with a vengeance!!!

Charlie and the band do an excellent job of playing great Southern Rock on this album. The style is definately more hard-edged than other albums they've made. While the album absolutely doesn't fit in with what Nashville considers country today, it is consistant with the style of music the CDB has been putting out over the last few albums, such as "Tailgate Party" and "Blues Hat." The lyrics are thoughtful and to the point. Contains "The Martyr," about the girl at Columbine who stood up for her faith, and "Ain't No Law In California" about the hard side of Los Angeles after dark. It's a great ride with these Road Dogs.

I bought this CD based on previous reviews claiming that the CDB had returned to their "roots" of true southern rock and roll. What a disappointment. I am a true CDB fan from the beginning, catching many concerts back int he early 70's when they toured the south regularly and many times with the Allman Brothers. Although I agree that the playing on this album is better, cleaner and more inspired than on their recent albums, it primarily focuses on guitar rock. Several of the songs are simply not worth listening to and really only two live up to expectations. And if they have truly gone back to their roots, why is there not a single "fiddle tune" on the disk? It will take a true dedicated and devoted CDB fan to enjoy this offering.

Good lord, this CD smokes! This is one of the stronger albums released by the CDB in a while, but it's worth the wait. Everone is playing like never before. Charlie comes up with some of the best lyrics and singin' of his amazing career. Best track:Across the Line, CDB meets Skynyrd/Allman Brothers Band, great solo's. Way to go boys!
