INTENSELY REWARDING!
Rating (5)
Date: 2002-08-22

Deputy Ben Ravenswood is still dealing with his guilt and a surprising attraction to Annalee Evans, the witch of Rain Mountain. Set in the mountains of Georgia.

Annalee Evans, with her two Dobermans, [and lots of money] pace her property on Rain Mountain. She doesn't intend to let anyone invade her space. Until a pregnant teenager, Theresa show up.
The commonality of threat by a bad man to the unborn child helps to slowly bond Annalee and Theresa.

Annalee has survived for five years on her Mountain using peoples own prejudices and suspicions to fend off their natural nosiness and defend her solitude. Until Ben breaks through.

Intriguing twists to the story and the final results will keep you interested until the end.

Deputy Ben Ravenswood heads to the top of Rain Mountain, ignoring all the trespassing and keep out signs that turn more and more threatening closer to the acme. Ben wants to approach Annalee Evans as a friend, but she refuses any involvement with anyone human including those from nearby Dalton Falls. Annalee's only friends are two Dobermans, Diva and Hunter. Anyone insane enough to ignore these two bodyguards would have to think twice of facing the crazy woman and her double-barreled shotgun.

Ben informs Annalee that a teen disappeared into the nearby woods. Annalee, the witch of Rain Mountain, denies spotting anyone. The missing girl reminds Annalee of her self, running away from a bad person. The pregnant Theresa Smith manages to reach Annalee's property. Fulton County, Georgia has a bench warrant ordering Ms. Smith to testify in a drug case. She refuses to return. To help Theresa, Annalee knows she needs to open her heart to Ben and the frightened adolescent. However, once opened, Ben and Theresa steal Annalee's heart so that there is no turning back.

ANNALEE AND THE LAWMAN is an exciting romantic suspense novel that seems on first brush, in this shrinking Internet world, impossible for anyone in America to remain isolated. However, the novel works because Lyn Ellis turns her three lead players into real people. The reader believes that Annalee fled the world, Ben has the guts to keep trying to reach her and Theresa is ready to vanish into nowhere land. Ms. Ellis keeps her entertaining tale filled with tension that will please sub-genre fans. This author will be one of romance's brightest stars.
