slightly dated, but still germane
Rating (4)
Date: 2006-10-01

The book is slightly dated, from 1994. But much of it is still sadly germane. It explains how homelessness might arise in the US. With some people being chronically homeless. For these, various causes are cited. Mental illness being a very common one. Often enough to make a person unemployable. And that person is usually male. Alcohol and drug addiction are also common causes. For all of these, some type of supervised community housing is best. As opposed to living on the street, or in single residence only [SRO] flats. The latter have a well deserved reputation for disorder, drug dealing and prostitution.
