Great book if you are into Christian church humor, otherwise most likely boring

To many people, church activities should be a solemn time, where joy and laughter are strictly forbidden. This is not the way it should be, the ability to be refreshed by laughter is a trait that is distinctly human. As a fundamental human activity, it should be made an integral part of church services. This is the opinion of a group called the "Fellowship of Merry Christians" (FMC). It is dedicated to the development of humor with a Christian religious theme, and this book is a collection of many of their jokes.
As befits their nature, the jokes are of course free of any sexual or cursing taint (with the exception of the acceptable "hell and damnation"). Many are based on the misperceptions and misunderstandings of children as they listen to the adult versions of church services. Others are based on erroneous or untimely statements by preachers, as they somehow manage to utter the wrong thing at the wrong time.
This book is a humor book that you will either like a lot or find boring, all dependent on your personal sense of humor. Clearly, that is not a criticism, just a statement of fact.

Good pulpit jokes

The jokes and anecdotes are appropriate for sermon uses or just to get fellow Christians to smile and laugh. I do find this and other works of the same series a bit self-congratulatory. I would rather have more humor and fewer "You've done a great job" testimonials. However, I am aware that the material I'm criticizing helps counteract the sad notion that people aren't allowed to laugh in church.
