The best thing about Kragen's book is that he gives lots of real life examples of how he promoted people like Kenny Rogers and Trisha Yearwood, and how he created the campaigns for We are the World and Hands Across America. His enthusiasm for his subject makes it an enjoyable read. The format (presenting 10 basic career strategies) makes it easy to read.
The only thing that's a very slight negative about this book is that although he keeps saying that anyone can adapt his principles to their own life, the reader can't help thinking: well, if they have lots of money they can. All of his campaign examples involve very wealthy people with lots of cash to throw into promotion.
Still, I would recommend this book for the marketing strategies he itemizes, and for his enthusiasm for and experience in his area of expertise.

and Hands Across America comes a remarkable book. Life is indeed a contact sport, and Kragen shows anyone willing to follow the program how to make contact. Inspired by some housepainters in Des Moines who took him at his word when he said the same techniques that worked for Kenny Rogers would work for them, the secrets for surmounting seemingly impossible obstacles to success are laid out here in plain sight, plain language, ready for anyone who is ready to learn to succeed without massive change. I was fortunate enough to be invited to audit a class at UCLA where Kragen occasionally teaches this material, and to say it changed my life is an understatement.
